Get Your Alpine Cycling Brevet

A Brevet is a certificate earned by completing a long distance bike ride with a specific time limit. In the Alpenbrevet you are your only competition, there’s no racing it’s just you against the distance and the clock; have you trained hard enough?

In the UK this is known as an Audax, in Europe these randonneuring events are called randonée or brevet, and a rider who has completed a 200 km event is called a randonneur. Unlike in flatter countries such as the UK, even the “easiest” Silver course covers 132km and a massive 3,875m of climbing – an incredible achievement to add to your cycling palmarès.

The Gotthard should be on your cycling “must do climbs” list, it features several long stretches of cobblestones as you climb high above the valley floor. After the challenge of the  St Gotthard Pass the smooth roads of the final climb of the day over the Susten Pass (2,264m) will feel relatively easy!

The Alpenbrevet Silbertour also features the second highest pass of the day, one that none of the other  randonneurs will have taken on; The Furka Pass. The Furka Pass is one of the classic climbs of the Alps with trademark hairpin turns and jaw dropping mountain views as you climb to the summit at 2,429m.
