On our first full day of riding we warmed up for the challenge of the Granfondo Gottardo with a circuit of the Diablerets massif via the Col du Pillon (1,546m) and Col des Mosses (1,445m).
With a diverse group of guests from as far a field as Singapore, Japan, Australia, Denmark and Ireland it was a magical day for soaking up the beauty of riding in the Swiss Alps:
The Col des Mosses is a climb regularly used in the Tour de Romandie and our guests Elisabeth and Martin relished the chance to open up the legs on a sunny summers day:

Looming large on the itinerary for the week was the biggest test before race day: the hors categorie Col de la Croix (1,776m).
For the many of our guests the 20km climb gaining +1,448m at an average gradient of 5.7% would be the toughest ever test on a bike.
The climb starts in the picturesque vineyard section:
It’s a climb that just keeps on going and it’s important to measure out your energy, an important lesson for Granfondo Gottardo’s final climb the Nufenen pass!
Brevet Guest Larry lives and trains in Singapore and was pretty please to get the Col de la Croix on his palmarès!
